On 5/1/09, B shift received a call for strucutre fire at 12:24pm. En route, a heavy column of smoke could be seen, and on arrival found an abandoned double wide mobile home, 50% involved. However, the grass surounding the home was on fire and quickly spreading to the neighbors yard, threatening their house also. And to make matters worse, the vehicle which was parked next the house we involved also. E18 was first on scene and immediately made an interior attack, E30 was on scene almost immediately after E18, and went to work quickly extinguishing the grass fire. Work on the vehicle fire followed, then an exterior attack on the structure. The fire was spreading through the roof space, and extinquishing the fire was made difficult by the "roof over". Which is when a second, new roof is built and placed over the older original roof. The fire was eventually extinguished and units were placed back in service.
